Family resort

A ski resort in winter, the small town is best known for its International Hot Air Balloon Festival. Alongside this, visitors will find plenty more to satisfy their curiosity in the many treasures Château-d’Œx has to offer, including a hike up the Kirchenhügel (Temple hill) that leads you to a wonderful panorama of the entire valley. In the high Alpine chalets of the Pays-d’Enhaut region, you can also discover local specialities including many delicious cheeses such as L’Etivaz PDO and other goat's, cow’s and sheep’s milk cheeses.

In Château-d’Œx, families are centre-stage at the start of the summer during the annual “Au Pays des Enfants” children's festival that features street entertainers, clowns and magicians as part of a programme of fun and educational activities.

La Braye and La Lécherette ski area

There are two ski areas adjacent to Château-d'Œx: La Braye and La Lécherette. La Braye is directly linked to the resort by gondola and offers 20 km of skiing pleasure and modern ski lifts. A little farther away in La Lécherette, you can explore many slopes, with something to suit all ability levels. There are 250 km of pistes to enjoy between Leysin and La Lécherette.

Château-d’Œx is also committed to improving access for disabled skiers by offering adaptive skiing trips: specially adapted equipment and instructors trained in adaptive skiing are provided on these inclusive itineraries.
